This event constitutes the beginning of the Externship course work phase. An Externship student then has two (2) years to complete the required nine (9) semester hours of course work. If questions arise about course work completion time tables students are asked to contact their Teacher Council liaison.

ARRIVAL IN THE US: Teachers should arrive in the US one (1) month prior to the required teaching date. Starting dates for the Externship courses are throughout the year. Teachers will have access to their school transition system and will be trained in the process for each district. Schools have orientations at the beginning of the school year and again in January. Teachers hired by schools are typically expected to be in the school 2 weeks or more in advance for an orientation process, either in the late summer/fall or in January. Teachers arriving in the US before the school year begins will go through school district workshops before school starts. The workshops and orientation process varies state by state according to the particular school's system.

COMPLETION TIME PERIOD: Teachers must begin one (1) of the two (2) required courses within the first year, and finish all courses within two (2) years of registration for the first course. Teachers may choose to start with one, two, or three courses within the first semester. It is recommended to begin with the following course(s):

Required Courses:

(2) Advanced Classroom Management: Children as Change Agents.

You may then continue by registering for two additional courses at some later date and completing them within the two-year time period.
