Dear [member_name_first],
April 22nd is Earth Day, presenting a
terrific opportunity for teachers to get
students excited about
protecting our planet. The
Earth Day Network website has several
resources for teachers including climate
change lesson plans, the history of
Earth Day, and virtual online tours of
Walden Pond and Tijuca Forest
National Park in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. You can also find
information on a $500 climate change Educator Grant and
how to apply.
Elmer's Glue is sponsoring their Elmer's Glue Crew Recycling Program as a fun way to teach your students about recycling. You and your students can enter to win hundreds of prizes, and the website features project ideas to teach kids about conservation.
April is also National Poetry Month. You can help your students learn all about this literary form on the www.poets.org website. Here you will find an answer to the question, "What is National Poetry Month?" The site has a plethora of resources for teachers including curriculum units and lesson plans, a teacher discussion form, lists of poems to teach, a spring book list and much more. You may also wish to check out the Poetry Teachers website which has poetry activities, theater, and a section on how to teach poetry.
