Vignette: Paul

Paul exhibited symptoms of ADHD which prompted school personnel, along with assistance from Paul’s physician, to assess his intellectual, academic, and behavioral performance. After parental consent for evaluation was obtained, Paul was administered the WISC-V by the school psychologist to assess his aptitude (intellectual performance) and the WJ-IV: Tests of Achievement by the special education teacher to assess his overall academic performance. The ADDES-5 was administered to the general education classroom teacher and Paul’s parents, respectively, to pinpoint ADHD behaviors across environments. Based on these assessments including the medical evaluation and direct observations of Paul in the classroom, Paul was determined to qualify for special services.
