Rubrics
Feedback is an essential part of the learning process. However, providing feedback that encourages growth is something most of us need to learn how to do. Rubrics can provide a great start for providing good feedback. The benefits of rubrics are that they:
- Make grading criteria transparent for students
- Provides a framework for feedback to be more consistently applied to student work
- Allow students to provide better self- and peer- feedback during the drafting process
- Reduce time for grading by providing more objective standards that remain focused
- Can maintain positive encouragement, even in moments of grading fatigue
