Screening Tools

Below are a few screening tools for infants and toddlers that are authentic (evaluating through observations of functional skills in natural environments) and developmentally appropriate (Baganto and Neisworth, 2004).

  4. Used by Health and Welfare’s Infant Toddler Program and Central District Health

Vineland Social-Emotional Early Childhood Scales (SEECS)

  1. Used to screen for deficiencies in emotional behavior
  2. Used for children birth to 70 months old
  3. Can be used to monitor child’s progress and plan treatment goals

Temperament and Atypical Behavior Scale (TABS)

  1. Used to screen for temperament disorders and deficiencies in self-regulatory skills
  2. Used for children 12-71 months old
  3. Can be used to determine eligibility, monitor child’s progress and plan treatment goals
