Dear [member_name_first],

Poetry May 6-10 is National Teacher Appreciation Week, which was established in 1953 to honor the vital role teachers have in educating our children and shaping their futures. We hope each and every one of you educators find yourself showered in the thanks and praise we know you deserve!

Mother's Day falls on May 12th this year. Help your students show appreciation to their mothers or other important caregivers in their lives by writing letters, making cards, or doing other craft projects to honor them. Learn about the history of Mother's Day and share it with your students by visiting the Mother's Day Central website.

Featured ArticleTeaching Teens That People Can
Change Reduces Aggression in School

Reducing Aggression Teenagers from all walks of life who believe people can't change react more aggressively to a peer conflict than those who think people can change. And teaching them that people have the potential to change can reduce these aggressive reactions.

Those are the findings of a new study published in the journal Child Development. The research was conducted at the University of Texas at Austin, Emory University, and Stanford University. Prior research has shown that children who grow up in hostile environments, such as high-violence neighborhoods, are more likely to interpret even minor offenses toward them as having been done on purpose. This interpretation leads them to respond aggressively.

testimonial quote

This was the best VESi course I have taken. The instructor presented it in a very logical manner, presented her objectives for every section, and didn't use common language. Her tests were important information rather than trivial facts. She did an outstanding job with the material. Thank you very much!
